Pedicures and Pedicures and Facials Oh My!

This week was pretty cool.  Tuesday night, we had a rep take us out for facials and pedicures.  Two of my female co-workers cancelled, so we invited Andy and Bryan to go with us.  Andy jumped at the chance because it was about time for his weekly facial.  This kid is 23 and gets Botox injections too.  Oy.

Anyway, we went to the spa and I got my pedicure first.  It was wonderful.  My toes are painted a dark red color and my feel are so smooth.  Wish I could get these weekly!

After that I had my facial.  I wasn't a huge fan.  Even though I've never had a blackhead a day in my life, apparently, she felt the need to pick at my face with a blunt metal object.  It hurt!  I was breaking out a little on my chin but not enough to be noticed by the typical human eye, but apparently, I needed to have the tiny blemishes picked at so that they were bleeding and it looked like I popped them.  My skin was smooth, but really, it was nothing I can't do on my own, so I'm not sure how many more facials I will have.

The rest of the week was pretty boring.  I worked a lot, decided to join a kickball league, and drove to Kerry's for Valentine's Day.  Since both of our valentines were far away, I wanted to hang out with her.  I got there in time for Reagan to wake up from her nap and she walked out of her room with Kerry, saw me, smiled a huge smile and exclaimed "Aunt Di!"  It was the coolest feeling in the world.  She still wouldn't come to me, but she knew who I was, which was awesome!

Saturday night, we went out with some other wives to get pedicures and go to dinner.  I didn't get a pedicure since I had just gotten one, but I did help pick out some pretty colors!

We went to dinner afterwards at an Italian restaurant.  It was yummy, the company was fun, and all in all it was a great day.  Sunday, Kerry and I hung out, then we went to Karen's house for dinner.  Karen made really yummy lasagna, garlic bread, salad, manacoti, and chocolate covered strawberries for dessert.  Kerry brought fudge and we made an angel food cake that didn't even get eaten because everyone loved the fudge and strawberries so much.  It was a great time!

Not much coming up this week, so we'll have to see what trouble I can get into.

Treading Water

I'm not even sure if I should blog about this, but guess what, it's my blog and I'll blog what I want to!

When I was in high school, I took the test to become a life guard.  I had to be strong enough to rescue a 300 pound "drowning" man, and the scariest part of the test is that I had to tread water for 10 minutes while holding my hands above my head.  It was the one part of the test everyone in my class was nervous about, because really, keeping your head above the water without using your hands is difficult!!

I feel like I've been treading water since I got to LA...well, since I was laid off really.  This past week, it's been more like I'm treading water without my hands.  As it's been pointed out to me, there really isn't one area of my life that is settled right now.  The relationship area of my life isn't settled, my work life isn't settled, my social life isn't settled...I'm trying my best to keep my head above the water, but it really isn't easy.

I'm extremely fortunate though, that I have good friends who understand everything I'm going through and either kick me in the butt when I'm overreacting, or sympathize with me when that's what I need (I just wish I could find your clones in LA!!).  I have family who is there to offer advice and let my cry on their shoulders...I have plenty of crafts the offer me a catharsis on the weekends, and I have unconditional love and support from about a handful of people who will probably never know how much they mean to me.  So that's the big part of my week...it's been tough, but just like that test from high school, I know I will not only get through this, but succeed with flying colors.

On a more material piece of my week, I took my car in/got my car back from the damage from my accident.  The woman who hit me cracked my rear axle tag (the bars that keep my back tires connected to the main axle), destroyed my suspension and alignment, and ended up causing enough damage where the total monetary cost was worth 25% of the value of my car (which is only about $6,000, but still!)  Thank goodness I have insurance!  My car is running great now though, and it looks and runs better than new.  They gave me a minivan for my rental, and seriously?  I would buy one in an instant.  This car was loaded, comfortable, rode super well and handled great.  If I had 2.5 kids and a dog, I would absolutely buy a minivan.

Another stupid thing, that was kinda big this week is that I cleaned up my Facebook friend list.  I went through and if there were people on there that I just don't or have never liked, they were deleted.  I've been getting tired of facebook lately.  I used to have it up as much as my email, but now I'm just getting tired of reading about what so and so is having for lunch, and why so and so is getting annoyed with their kids.  Super.  It's all just really stupid if you think about it.  So there you have it.  I'm not quite banning Facebook, but only checking it once or twice a day....

Lastly, I'd like to shout out to Jill and James for a hap-hap-happy birthday!!  And for Lauren whom I'm didn't shout out to in December.  And to Ben whose birthday is in a week.  This is for you guys:
